This bowl was turned from a large piece of stained and spalted Manitoba Maple. The brownish spalt lines and the reddish stain occur naturally in this wood. The bowl size is suited for displaying or serving food such as fruit or it may be used as a feature display item. It is 5" x 9" diameter (12.5 x 23 cm).

028-16 Small Serving Bowl $45

This small bowl was turned from a very nice piece of Oak. The interesting, diverging grain pattern occurred because the piece of wood was cut at the intersection of two branches of the tree. The bowl size is suited for serving small items such as chips, nuts or candy. It is 2" x 7.5" diameter (5 x 14 cm).

This small bowl is turned from a fine piece of Walnut. The grain patternranges from dark brown heartwood fading to lighter sapwood near the edges. The bowl is ideal for serving small items such as nuts or candy, or as a decorative display piece. It is 1-3/4" x 4-3/4" diameter (4.5 x 12 cm).

The form of this bowl is greatly enhanced by the natural curly grain patterns in this beautiful piece of Manitoba Maple. Dry food items could be served in this bowl, or it would make an excellent display piece, alone or with added decorative pieces. The bowl is 4" x 6" dia. (10 x 15 cm).

This unique design provides a nice setting to emphasize and display the beautiful grain pattern in the piece of Walnut wood used for this turning. A 3/4" ring of textured surface also enhances the design. This unique, disc shaped bowl is 1-3/4" x 11-1/2" dia. (4.5 x 29 cm).

046-15 Natural Edge Bowl $55

This bowl has been turned from a fresh piece of Laurel Oak from Florida, It was partly seasoned before being turned. Stress fractures in the structure of the wood which caused the natural cracks, occurred during the turning process. The bowl would be nice as a display piece alone or with added decorations. It could also be used to serve nuts or other small food items. The size is 4" x 5" dia. (10 x 12.5 cm).

The small Maple legs create the impression that this bowl is floating in the air. It is turned from a fine piece of Walnut with dark brown heartwood fading to lighter sapwood near the edges. The bowl is ideal for serving small items or as a decorative display piece. It is 2" x 11.75" diameter (5 x 29.5 cm).

027-14 Footed Bowl $60 SOLD

This candy/nut, footed bowl is turned from Lignum Vitae, a very dense, oily wood. Because of these qualities - its resistance to immersion in water and its overall durability, this wood is used to make bushings for the driveshafts of large boats. The interesting colours and grain patterns in this piece greatly enhance its form and overall appearance. It is 3.4" x 5.5" diameter (9 x 12.5 cm).

This bowl was turned from a crotch of an Oak tree. Crotch is the term used to describe the place where two branches join. A small section of natural edge, lighter coloured sapwood graces the edge of the bowl. The bowl size is 2.75" x 6" diameter (7 x 15 cm).

This bowl was turned from a small piece of mugo pine. The dark brown and the reddish colours occur naturally in this wood. The tree is conniferous so the wood is quite soft like most other pines. The bowl size is suited for serving small items such as nuts and candy. It is 2.75" x 5.75" diameter (7 x 14.5 cm).
